So what do you learn in 7th Grade
Science anyway?
|
This class is made up of a bunch of different topics all rolled
into one. Each year, I add/take away activities and add my own blend of
humor so that no two years are ever exactly alike. For the upcoming
year, the following are the topics we will be studying in my class:
 | Catastrophic Events: Earthquakes, Volcanoes, Hurricanes,
Tornadoes |
 | Newton's Laws: Three laws of motion, Buoyancy, Pressure,
Bridge Making |
 | Minerals: What they are, Examples, Rock Candy |
 | Rocks: Igneous, Sedimentary, Metamorphic |
 | Forensic Science: Fingerprints, Hair/Clothing analysis,
Blood/DNA testing |
 | Human Body Systems: Respiratory, Circulatory, Digestive,
Skeletal, Muscular, Nervous |
 | Cells: Parts of a cell, Mitosis, Reproduction, Diffusion |
 | Electricity and Circuits: Creating circuits, charges,
calculating amperage and resistance |
 | Shore Zones: Formation of shores, Types of pollution that
harm shore zones, Ocean Floor |
 | Light: The color spectrum, Mixing light and pigment,
Reflection and Refraction |
 | Sound: Wavelength, pitch, amplitude, waves traveling
through mediums |
The grading policy in my class is below. When calculating final
grades, they will be made using this grade scale.
 | 40% Tests - Chapter tests and lab assignments count as test
grades. |
 | 30% Quizzes - Chapter and notebook quizzes along with
graphs for labs count as quiz grades. |
 | 15% Homework - I don't give many homework assignments and
they're certainly not long, so make sure you do them! I don't give
credit for late assignments since they're corrected in class the
same day they're due. |
 | 15% Classwork - Any assignments, labs or journal entries
that are or should be completed in class will count as classwork assignments. |
