Be sure to have a book to read during Flex Period.

• Please check agenda book daily for most up to date assignment information. 
• If your child is enrolled in band/chorus, please be sure they copy homework in agenda book& obtain any required materials before leaving math class.

• Field Trips later in the year  may include  : Franklin Institute and the  Adventure Aquarium/USS Battleship New Jersey. You will receive information about these trips throughout the year.

MATH 

  
Welcome to Math class. We are using Connected Math this year. The first unit we will complete is a unit called Prime Time. We shall study number theory including factors,multiples,prime& composite numbers.Students will learn how to play and win "THE FACTOR GAME ."Watch this site for more details .Log on to these sites for more info. www.phschool.com/cmp  , www.math.msu.edu/cmp. Other units of  study include: Bits& Pieces I (fractions&decimals) ;Shapes & Designs(geometry);Covering & Surrounding(measurement);Data About Us(statistics);and How Likely Is It?(probability); Ruins of Montarek(spatial awareness). Homework is assigned regularly & is collected at the beginning of class. Be prepared for frequent quizzes & tests.

    Be sure to bring your materials to class each day. Materials include: binder with book;agenda;calculator;pencil/sharpener;ID badge.  Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.              

 SOCIAL STUDIES

Don't forget to visit the hungersite.com where you can make a difference!!   We shall start the school year by reviewing maps& globes. Our study will include using maps of Woodstown and an introduction to the Five Themes of Geography. Students will be asked to create visual displays depicting the Five Themes of Geography. Then we are off to Latin America where we shall study the_ West Indies, Central America, & Mexico.
