Family and Consumer Science

2007 - 2008

I am a graduate or Glassboro State College and Rowan University. I received a BA in Home Economics from Glassboro in 1976 and an MA in Supervision and Curriculum from Rowan in 1995. This is my 30th year teaching and I am fortunate to be still teaching subjects I have a passion for -

Child Care and Development and Foods, Clothing and Crafts.

My schedule in the high school includes three sections of Child Care and Development for junior and seniors and three sections of Foods, Clothing and Crafts for all grade levels.

All I Ever Needed to Know About Life I learned in
Family and Consumer Science

Choose foods from the food pyramid.
Avoid fats and sweets,
Keep foods safe.
Choose clothes to flatter your body type.
Clean and fix them when needed.
Budget your money wisely, shop sales, and read labels.
Don't be a parent too soon.
It's also a good idea to be married first.
Pick someone you get along with, then have a baby.
Nurture it, love it, give it the right discipline and know when to let go.
Learn to get along with others.
Learn to like yourself.
Think of what a better world it would be if we were all equipped with life skills learned in
Family and Consumer Science.
If we all had strong, happy families, balanced budgets and could resolve conflict without violence, what a different world it would be.
It's true no matter how old you are,
whether you are male or female,
whatever career you've chosen,
it's best to go into the world with
Basic Life Skills.
Family and Consumer Science:
Don't Leave School Without It.
