Hi! Welcome to
First Grade
First grade is so much fun! We have been doing many interesting things this
year. We started out the first few weeks of school learning about
different land forms and the animals that inhabit them. We will continue
with our study of the habitats for the next couple of weeks. In Science, we
will complete units on Solids and Liquids, Organisms, and Weather. Math will
provide many new learning games and challenges. We will be
learning about farm animals and reading lots of books about them. Different forms of
writing will be introduced throughout the year. As the year progresses I
will update you on the specific skills we will be working on in each area.

General Information
Students may enter school at 7:35 and classes
begin at 7:50. Coming to school on time is very important
since we start Guided Reading at 7:50 each morning.
Snow

If it snows, we usually go outside for a
short time. There are always many lessons to learn while out in the snow.
It also provides for great exercise. Please send you child to school with
hats, gloves and boots on these days.
Clothing

Each child should have their name written
inside the tag on their coats, sweatshirts and sweaters. This helps
alleviate many discussions and lost articles. Please encourage
students wear warm clothing for outside recess.
Lunches

Lunch tickets are available and save time and
money. It is always a good idea to buy lunch tickets for a month at a
time if
your child enjoys the school lunch. They keep the tickets in a lunch pocket and there is
never a problem with lost or forgotten money.
