"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he or she grows up." -Pablo Picasso

Welcome parents, students and friends. My name is Adam Hyland and I am the middle school art teacher here at the Woodstown/ Pilesgrove school district. I am currently in my third year of teaching here in Woodstown and am quite happy to be doing so. My background in art started when I used to draw and paint with my father as a child. Art has been an important aspect in my life from its very beginnings when I would watch my father paint, draw and sculpt even before I could hold a pencil in my hand. I decided very early on that I wanted to make art education my profession and share the experiences I've found so valuable in life with as many as possible. Upon graduating from high school I decided to attend the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Ga and major in fine art painting. I then did some art education post graduate studies at Parsons School of Design located in New York City. In addition to my passion for art I am also heavily involved in wrestling. I am currently the assistant wrestling coach for the Woodstown program and have been so for the past two years. Recently I attended the Freestyle Wrestling World Championships in NYC where over 70 nations participated. In addition to my teaching and coaching responsibilities I also am the set designer for the middle school play, the advisor for our gifted and talented after school art program and a part time teacher at the Appel Farm Arts and Music Center in Elmer, NJ.
