Pay It Forward

I would like to take an opportunity to personally welcome our parents back to Woodstown High School for the 2008/2009 school year.  We are very excited about the abundant amount of opportunities and activities we have planned for our students this school year.  Because of the diverse selection of clubs and activities I believe we have something that should appeal to all of our students, and I encourage them to get involved and take an active role in making Woodstown High School the best it can be.  These next four years will go by quickly and getting involved will ensure that each student will have an opportunity to create memories and friendships that will last a life time.  Our theme at the high school this year is:  Pay it Forward-Changing the world one student/individual at a time.  We are going to focus this year specifically on making a difference in our school and community by performing random acts of kindness.  Each individual that is the recipient of a random act of kindness will then “Pay it Forward” to other individuals within the school or community.  You can easily see how this concept will spread quickly throughout both the school and community creating a positive climate of good will.  In the words of basketball coach John Wooden “You cannot live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you.”  There will be a number of activities planned throughout the school year that will highlight this theme and get students and staff members involved.  I ask all of our students to focus on our theme and be the best you can be while looking to make a difference in the life of another individual that may not be as fortunate and “Pay it Forward”.  As American Educator Booker T. Washington was quoted “If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else.”  We are fortunate to have a very supportive parent base and a community that values the significance of a good education.  I challenge each one of our students to develop a list of personal goals for this upcoming school year and to focus on these goals throughout the school year.  Developing these individual goals will insure long term success for the future.  So stay focused on your goals and remember this year to “Pay it Forward”.  I wish you the best as you embark on the 2008/2009 school year.
