Sixth Grade Mathematics  Room 124

The Basic Skills Improvement Program at the Woodstown Middle School follows an in-class teaching model believing that all children benefit from individual or small group support. They are given supplemental instruction to reinforce specific skills needed for advancement which correlates with the regular classroom instruction.  These additional services are usually provided within the student's regular class time.

Students are identified for this program based on the NJASK scores and teacher recommendation.  The parents are then notified in writing of their child's need for BSI.

Our math series is Connected Math.  Students experience various approaches to solving problems.  Currently, we are working in Bits & Pieces I studying fractions, decimals and percents.  With the new year upon us, we will be moving into two geometry units:  Shapes & Designs and Covering & Surrounding which involves measurement.  Our final units of study are Data About Us (statistics) and How Likely Is It ? (probability).  During fourth marking period, grade six plans to participate in Junior Achievement (using a checkbook).

Please check the agenda book for daily homework or other assignments.  In math, homework is necessary to reinforce and practice current skills.  Homework is reviewed in class and students are given the opportunity to ask questions.
