Biology(Periods 1 & 9)-
The goals of our Biology class this year are:
To develop an understanding of the chemistry of cellular structure and function.
How to use scientific tools correctly.
To develop an understanding of how matter and energy are transformed and transferred in living things.
To develop problem-solving, decision-making, and inquiry skills
To develop an understanding of how natural selection and evolution have contributed to the diversity of living things.
To develop an understanding of predictable patterns of inheritance.
To develop an understanding of how humans impact the environment.
How to construct and use tables and graphs to interpret data.
Textbook: Biology: Cycles of Life, AGS, includes a workbook
Student progress will be evaluated by classwork, labs and projects, tests and quizzes.
Extended English (Period 3)
The goals of our Extended English class this year are:
To be able to read a passage and answer comprehension questions about it.
To be able to read various types of material which can include novels, short stories, and plays.
To be able to maintain and regularly record in a written journal.
To be able to demonstrate knowledge of basic editing and revising skills.
To be able to demonstrate skill in using reference materials.
To be able to write a clear, well developed research paper pertaining to a stated topic.
Student progress will be evaluated by classwork, written assignments, tests and quizzes.

In-Class Resource - For Period 4,6 and 8,
I will be teaching with other science teachers assisting the students who need academic support in the mainstream classes. We work as a team in these classes so that you can contact either me or the mainstream teacher with concerns. I will be available during Period 2 or after school for phone conversations.
